Postdoctoral Researcher Position
The Department of Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position at the Advanced Coal & Energy Research Facility, ACERF (http://cccu.wustl.edu/research-facil.php). ACERF is a 1 MWth experimental combustion test facility. The successful candidate will be expected to lead experimental research related to oxy-combustion of fuels. Assuming satisfactory performance, the position is supported for two years with funding from the US Dept. of Energy, DOE. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemical or mechanical engineering, or other related field if candidate has relevant experience. Experience with experimental combustion systems is required, and specialization in areas of coal and oxy-combustion is highly desirable. Candidate should have a strong background in combustion reactions and radiation heat transfer from flames. Experience with in-furnace measurements of species, temperature, heat flux, ash particles, etc., and with pressurized combustion systems is preferred. Applicant should have a strong work ethic and the ability to work with others and direct graduate students. The applicant must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to publish independently.
